CRF seeks to accomplish our organizational goals of education and partnership by engaging various groups in our Community-based Programs (CBP) and restoration programs planned throughout the year. These CBPs are our volunteer programs, and are one and/or two day events open to all certified SCUBA divers  and interested groups. Each program typically starts with a morning informative lecture about CRF's history and initiatives, coral ecology/restoration, and then followed by 2 dives towards the afternoon.  The dives will allow all particpants to assist CRF staff in addressing organizational needs by participating in underwater coral propagation and maintenance in our nursery housing thousands of corals, and/or transplanting nursery corals to nearby selected reefs.

In order to make the best of a volunteer experience and contribute effectively, CRF does require volunteers to attend a planned CBP where background information on CRF will be presented, proper training & preferred techniques are delivered, and sufficient planning with local dive operators can guarantee you space in a program.

At this time, due to extensive commitments CRF has already we are unable to accommodate individual volunteers outside of scheduled programs. However, CRF actively encourages dive groups of all ages from around the world to contact us in regarding group restoration programs and activities related to our efforts.  CRF can customize group reef conservation & restoration programs for certified SCUBA divers of all ages. Program information can be found on our homepage by viewing our calendar of events. For further information you are welcome to contact CRF at programs@coralrestoration.org

Please note, restoration programs which involve transplanting (2 day programs) are granted via federal/state permits, which can take significant amount of time to acquire. Furthermore, due to the fragility of the marine environment and our nursery CRF group programs do have a set capacity limit of 20 people max per program.
