Sam Burrell
Reef Restoration Coordinator
Sam first learned how to scuba dive in the Finger Lakes region of New York after double majoring in Biology and Music at Hobart and William Smith Colleges in 2015. His desire to understand more about the underwater world and his love for travel took him to Northeastern University in Boston, MA, where he received his Master’s in Marine Science. His heavily field-based master’s program allowed him to study marine life at STRI-Bocas del Toro in Panama, the Friday Harbor Laboratories in Washington, and the University of New South Wales in Sydney, Australia, where he completed his master’s thesis. After graduate school, he worked as a scientific diving technician for UC-Santa Barbara’s SONGS Mitigation and Monitoring Program. Now with nearly a decade of marine biology and scientific diving experience, he is honored to be a part of the Coral Restoration Foundation™ and help restore such an important ecosystem.
